CMAA gets Indonesian Invitation |

A 25 strong Chinese
Martial Art Association (CMAA) wushu, dragon & lion dance delegation is invited
and all set to join the Chap Goh Meh celebrations in Singkawang, Kalimantan
Barat, Indonesia,
from 19th to 21st February 2008. Singkawang known as the
“City with 1000 temples” is one place where Chap Goh Meh is celebrated grandly with
gusto and is steeped with rich cultural tradition.
At the Chinese
New Year do held in a local restaurant attended by some eighty of its members, CMAA
chairman Chester Lim said that it is an opportunity to promote cultural ties and
share similar interests on an international platform. Lim call on the team to
give good account of themselves and to exhibit their skills to the expectations
of the Indonesian hosts.
Lim
enthused that in fact, the CMAA team had already established a strong following
in Singkawang since 2005 when it participated in the Chap Goh Meh celebrations
there. Moreover, CMAA had assisted in setting up of a strong wushu and lion
dance team in collaboration with Sekolah Ilmu Tinggi Ekonomi Kota Singkawang.

CMAA hosted a dinner for the participants, helpers and organizers of 1st Sarawak Open Dragon & Lion Dance Competition.
CMAA Chairman, Mr. Chester Lim in his speech, thanked all those who had put in a lot of effeort to make this event a great success.
He also thanked the media for their support in giving wide publicity coverage, so that the event manage to attract very enthusiastic response from the public.

CMAA unveils new lions for 2008 CNY |

Chinese Martial Art Association (CMAA) is all set to celebrate the
coming 2008 Chinese New Year of Rat with members and well-wishers with a pair
of new glittering gold and silver sequined lions accompanied by radiant silk
fabric traditional Chinese costume attired team members. The new lions were unveiled at the Seng Ong Kong Temple, Kuching
by the Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Works YB Datuk Yong Khoon
Seng and witnessed by CMAA chairman Chester Lim and deputy chairman Lee King
Choon. Also present were CMAA life advisor Master Law Kaw Chai, advisors Lim
Poh Pheng, secretary Chin Chiu Hian, treasurer Nelson Nguang, assistant
secretary Kueh Sze June, assistant treasurer Calvin Kong and CMAA general
committee members. Immediately after the eye-dotting ceremony, the CMAA new
lions presented an impromptu performance to the delight of the public present.

A Memorable 1st Sarawak Open Dragon & Lion Dance Championship |

Kuching.
A crowd of more than 2500 throng the MBKS Stadium, Kuching despite a wet evening, anticipating the action, thrills and spills of the 1st Sarawak Open Dragon & Lion Dance Championship organized by Chinese Martial Art Association (CMAA) on the second and final day of competition on 5th January 2008. Going by the spontaneous roars, cheering and clapping resonating throughout the night, the audience obviously loudly showed their approval with the exciting performances of the competitors trying to
outdo one another. Participating teams and the organizers were more than delighted with the response and support shown.
