Sejak saya dibebaskan daripada ISA, dah lama saya tunggu peluang untuk membentangkan usul potong gaji Menteri Dalam Negeri Syed Hamid dan Musa Hasan, Ketua Polis Negara di dalam Dewan Rakyat. Akhirnya saya dapat peluang pada hari ini. Pada waktu yang sama, Lim Kit Siang juga membentangkan usul potong gaji ke atas Ketua Polis Negara dan beliau juga diberi peluang untuk berucap atas usulnya.

Selepas Lim Kit Siang dan saya membuat ucapan usul kami, biasanya ahli berhormat back benchers BN akan membuat ucapan untuk mempertahankan Menteri dan KPN, biasanya mereka akan membidas kami dan menuduh kami tidak setia kepada negara dan sebagainya, tetapi kali ini, saya agak hairan untuk melihat tiada seorang back benchers Barisan Nasional mempertahankan Menteri dan KPN mereka, dan hanya tinggalkan Ahli Parlimen Pasir Mas Ibrahim Ali yang mempertahankan ISA sahaja.

I have been so busy the past two weeks until I could not spend more time speaking in Parliament, one reason being my visits to chair investment committee meetings at all local councils in Selangor. I am encouraging them to set up Industrial Park Management Committees (IPMC) in all industrial zones under the jurisdiction of local councils.

I hardly watch RTM programmes at night. Last night (29 November 2008), I reached home earlier and I managed to watch some parts of a special programme about the political unrests in Thailand.

The presenter told the audience of the ‘heads and tails’ of a series of political developments in Thailand while showing the visuals. He said all the demonstrations arose because the protestors rejected Thaksin and his proxy party in power. The last line of the voice over of the programme was: “The lesson we can learn from the Thai political unrest is, never let a non pri-bumi rule the country.” Continue Reading »

I welcome the decision of the Kuala Lumpur High Court to acquit and discharge of Dr Irene Fernandez of the charge of “maliciously publishing false news” under section 8A(1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984.

Albeit many years late, this decision exonerates her and gives hope to the many other Malaysians who are struggling for justice under the various other oppressive laws such as the ISA (Internal Security Act) , the Restricted Residence Ordinance, the Police Act etc.

I note that she was first charged in 1996 and her case has earned the notorious record of being the longest-running legal case in Malaysian history. Continue Reading »

Penasihat Hal Ehwal Pembangunan Wanita Dan Sosial kepada YAB Perdana Menteri bertanggungjawab secara keseluruhannya untuk menasihatkan YAB. Perdana Menteri mengenai perlaksanaan program-program hal ehwal pembangunan wanita dan sosial dengan pengkhususan untuk mengenalpasti isu-isu dan juga program-program yang membabitkan wanita dan keluarga Islam dan mengesyorkan dasar untuk menangani isu-isu tersebut.

Pejabat Penasihat Pembangunan Wanita Dan Sosial kepada YAB Perdana Menteri akan bekerjasama dengan semua kementerian terutama Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga Dan Masyarakat, JAKIM, Jabatan Peguam Negara, Jabatan Kehakiman Syariah Malaysia serta agensi-agensi lain untuk menjalankan program-program yang bersesuaian dan mengelak berlakunya masalah pertindihan kerja.
